More of the window bucks are in place and the walls are creeping up. There are a lot of windows in this house, so in some cases it is challenging to brace the walls so they will stay vertical when the concrete is pumped in.
This is the view looking out of the window by the stairwell. When you are in the kitchen, we should be able to look through the kitchen doorway to see this view.
Backfill is still not completed - I think that has to be done before the walls can be completed.
It was a really overcast day, it had been raining all night.

Derek & Silvia, we hear you loud and clear, which is why we are doing this type of home construction. It was prompted by Freda always being cold, no matter what temperature it is inside. We are really looking forward to enjoying the new house.
The biggest challenge we had was finding an experienced ICF builder. There are very few in Ottawa (more if you build near Kingston). We chose Admirable 2000 (Charles Irvine) after talking to several of his references and seeing a few homes he built. I suggest giving him a call to talk about what you want to do.
Do we have any regrets? If we were to start all over again, the only thing we would change would be to have Admirable 2000 do the architectural drawings as well as the building. Not to detract from the architect and drawings we have - we love the plan - we would do this change because Charles is more familiar with the ICF blocks and knows what changes to make the house easier to build (which translates to lower cost).
You can find the link to Admirable 2000 on the right side of the main blog page.
