Spring cleaning: cleaning windows

Today we did some spring cleaning - cleaning the windows. This house has a lot of windows, and we cleaned most but not all of them inside and out.

This is the window over the great room doors. We have silhouettes of a hawk stuck to the window to hopefully prevent bird strike deaths on the windows. This is the AFTER picture, by the way. The dirty marks are on the inside of the window and this window needs to be replaced.

Weather

This is the drywall in the garage. The house inspector said the drywall was too close to the floor and would be damaged by water from the cars. Charles said this wouldn't happen because of the slope on the floor. This photo shows who was right.

Reading lines with Tawny, a character actress

Guarding the pizza
None shall pass!

(frantically) "This box... you won't believe it, but this box, and I swear this is true, this box had the nerve to attack me!!! SO please bear with me while I have it out with him..."

"I know that I've told you that playing in the snow is my favourite thing, but really playing in water is my favourite thing! But this is so confusing, this water has a hard top on it, but it is very refreshing!"

Pano - Feb 27, 2007

For some reason, the autostich software wouldn't join all of the photos together to make this panorama. The middle section is missing, because it wouldn't join up with either the left or the right side.

Queen of the World

It was Tawny's 4th birthday on Friday March 9th. She celebrated by carrying a big stick, sitting on her throne (the snowbanks at the side of the road), and general cavorting.

Tawny does like cake and ice cream, but prefers chicken or roast beef. I think bacon is her most favourite of all!

Hidden treasures of the melting snow

Tawny loves playing fetch. Not too surprising, since she is a Labrador Retriever after all. The problem with a lot of throw toys is that they are relatively heavy, so will sink down through the snow. One of the best toys to in the winter, is the Kong throw toy that is made out of tennis ball material with a decent length of rope (not too long, not too short). The tennis ball material is light enough that it won't sink too deep into the snow.

However, even though it might not sink too far into the snow, we do lose a few over the winter. The amazing thing about the melting snow is that the lost toys become found. On Wednesday, Tawny found two of these Kongs that she lost or dropped somewhere when a scent distracted her, so Freda came home with three of these!

Cleaning up the neighbourhood

When I was walking Tawny on Wednesday morning, she picked up a beer can that someone had discarded in the snow, and carried it all the way back to the house. I was surprised as she normally won't carry something that long without getting bored with it.

TARION - 1 year

It's time to fill out our 1 year occupancy form for Tarion - this is completed and submitted in the 12th month of occupancy. I find it extremely ironic that we only got our final occupancy permit on January 3rd. I'm up to 20 pages of deficiencies so far, and finding new ones every day... :)))

BTW, I have been having problems posting photos with Picasa - it fails for unknown reason. Blogger problem, sorry.
