A day rich in wildlife sightings

We saw a lot of wildlife sightings when we took Tawny for her walk on Sunday morning.

First, we saw this young rabbit. I took a series of photos as we were walking closer trying not to alarm the rabbit. It was hot and humid, and as Tawny had already had a play with Vasha, we decided to walk around the lake instead so that Tawny could go swimming.

As we were walking around the lake, we came across two deer that ran into the bush. Tawny chased them of course, but she had no chance of catching them because they are far faster than her.

Then we saw the pair of loons that have made this lake their home. Their young ones must have moved on already.

And then in the afternoon, we saw a number of garter snakes sunning themselves on the rocks, etc. I was trying to get a good photo of this big one but it kept slithering away so I would get a good photo of its tail. Because it was so good at slitherin', maybe I should call this snake "Harry Potter"!
