laying sod

Friday ~2pm: The sod arrived on Friday afternoon - 180 rolls (2'x5'), about 2 1/2 pallets worth.

Friday ~4pm: Here we have spread out peat moss - this represents about 25 bales of peat moss (3.8 cu ft each). This is to help the sod hold onto the water as the soil is very poor.

Saturday ~7am: We laid out one of the pallets of sod on Friday before and after supper, and then set the sprinkler up.

Saturday ~11am: Here the sod is all down. And how pretty it looks too.

Turtles

I saw this little turtle on our sidewalk

Yes. it was very petite.

It was also shy - it tucked its head and legs inside the shell...

Another beautiful sunset!

Still a bit of summer left

Still having a few amazing roses

And the insects like sunning themselves on the stucco in the warm sun

There are still some buds on the roses.

And the deer like munching whatever is back there...

More things

A fossil - I'm guessing this was a creature with iron in it's blood (like us humans).

A little chipmunk peering out from his little house in our rocks.

We had 5 elm trees removed as they were killed by the Elm Borer this year.

Here you can see two stumps from the aftermath of the tree removal.
